Overview

France Student Visa (VLS-TS)

The France Student Visa — known as the VLS-TS (Visa de Long Séjour valant Titre de Séjour) — allows non-EU students, including Pakistani nationals, to live in France while pursuing full-time study at a French university, grande école, or recognised institution. For most applicants, the process begins with Campus France, France’s official platform for international student applications, which manages your university application file before your visa request is submitted.
Beyond the Campus France procedure, applicants need to show sufficient financial resources to cover living costs, valid health insurance, and — once in France — must validate their VLS-TS through the French Office for Immigration and Integration (OFII) within a set period after arrival, which effectively converts the visa into a residence permit. Students on the VLS-TS generally have defined part-time work rights during their studies, and many master’s graduates become eligible for a post-study Autorisation Provisoire de Séjour (APS), giving them time to seek employment or start a business in France
