Greece Work Permit
Greece’s work permit route allows non-EU nationals, including Pakistani professionals, to take up employment with a Greek employer through a structured, employer-led approval process. Before a work visa application can proceed, the sponsoring employer generally needs approval from the relevant Greek labour authority confirming that the role cannot be filled from within the EU labour market and that hiring criteria have been met.
Once employer approval is secured, applicants apply for a national (Type D) visa at the Greek consulate, which allows entry into Greece for the purpose of taking up the sponsored role. After arrival, the permit holder converts this into a residence permit for employment purposes, which is renewable for as long as the employment continues and can, over time, support eligibility for longer-term residency in Greece.
